I was able to watch the movie Noy on its first showing day but I did not have the chance to write a movie review for Noy. This movie caused stir prior to its showing after getting a rare A grade from the Cinema Evaluation Board.
Though several days late, I still think that a Noy movie review will still be relevant.
I won’t go into details about the story of Noy as I would like to encourage more moviegoers to personally see the movie. In a nutshell, the story is about a journalist who was assigned to cover the day-to-day life of Senator Noynoy Aquino during the campaign period.
The movie Noy stars Coco Martin as the young journalist named Noy. He lives in a very depressed area where depression is nothing but a mere daily reality. The character of Noy can be said to be an epitome of a poor person who wishes to ameliorate his situation whatever it takes.
Not being a true journalist, Noy’s perspective of Noynoy Aquino is a work on progress. He started to feature those which can easily be seen in the superficial. Noynoy was being pictured as someone who is just a mere popular public figure. As the movie progresses, Coco Martin’s character started to understand the depth of Noynoy Aquino’s personality, as he realizes the varying nuances of his own life.
The movie Noy seemed like a hybrid of mainstream and indie characteristics. The subject is fit for an indie film but the filming itself looks so mainstream. For me, it was a good attempt to present a valuable idea in a more accessible format.
The scenes in the movie bear social significance. Although the focus was on the character of Noy, his interactions with the people around him symbolize what is currently happening in our physical world.
My only reservation though is that on the scenes prior to the penultimate scene, I felt that the storyline got a little static. It felt that it was lacking progress vis-a-vis the flow of the story. I also did not like how such boredom was attempted to be overcome by inserting melodramatic scenes towards the ending. Albeit the fact that it was a bit necessary, the scenes were too big for my taste. It leaves an extra emotional baggage to the viewer.
Overall, Noy is a cinematic marvel worthy of an A grading. Although there are things that could have been polished, its timeliness though and social significance compensate for it. http://pinoygossipboy.ph/movie-review-noy-starring-coco-martin

did you really have to use penultimate and ameliorate in this post?
