Movie Review: Miss You Like Crazy

Movie Review: Miss You Like Crazy

Time is meaningless when you are in love. That was the wisdom of the newest movie offering from Star Cinema. Miss You Like Crazy serves as the reunion movie of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, one of the greatest loveteams in Philippine Television and Cinema.

Since I had class last Tuesday with Professor Tan, I was not able to attend the premiere night of Miss You Like Crazy. I was only able to see it on its first showing day. I have a habit of seeing a movie twice in a row so I saw it in a free-seating cinema. And believe me when I tell you, this was the first movie I saw where there was practically no seats available. The theatre (there were two cinemas running the film) was jam-packed.

John Lloyd plays the character of Alan Alvarez, a young urban professional who, despite coming from a middle class family, is a mainstay in the high society scene, courtesy of his girlfriend played by Maricar Reyes, who was sporting a different hairdo. Bea, on the other hand, plays the character of Mia Samonte, a typical young breadwinner who decided to work abroad to support her family. Bea’s unusual habit of writing on stones to express her feelings plays an instrumental part in making Alan and Mia’s paths meet.

I commend film director Cathy Garcia-Molina for the innovative treatment of the storyline. Miss You Like Crazy did not confine itself with a linear story line. I like how Direk Cathy played with the element of time, after all, time was the essence of the movie.

No doubt, John Lloyd and Bea still have this outstanding on-screen chemistry. More than their chemistry, John Lloyd and Bea, in their own respective rights, have acting prowess to boot. Needless to say, John Lloyd and Bea were effective in their performance in Miss You Like Crazy.

Miss You Like Crazy is not your typical kilig movie. Truth be told, the movie does not simply rely on kilig moments. It is rather easy to shoot separate kilig moments and paste them altogether. But this movie prides itself of a smooth and interesting story.

Truly, Miss You Like Crazy is a wonderful post-Valentine treat. Also, this movie is recommendable to those who had not found their partners yet. To borrow Bea’s line in the movie, “Bakit ka ba nagpa-panic? Kahit nga hindi mo ako hinahanap nagkikita pa rin tayo!”

I saw it today and yes, it’s a very nice movie. JLC and Bea still has that hatak sa masa and they’re both very good actors.

i must say that the movie is a work of art, not just a movie for money.  there is an obvious effort on details.  i recommend for people to watch this with open heart and intelligent mind.ü  interestingly different.

The movie is so typical pinoy.Even you haven’t started it you can predict the ending. To be honest it’s ok to watch it at home on DVD and but not paying more than a hundred bucks and watch it on screen.

I honestly did not find the movie all that good. Too bad since the same director created far better movies like You Changed My Life and One More Chance. I do not blame the actors and the director for the (sorry to the fans) crappy story. There was too much going on. The family of Bea in the movie could fill half a movie, the office problem of John Lloyd was another story that was not developed, then there are the many extra characters that did not contribute much to the whole story but a few comedic scenes which were done through dried up punch lines.

It isn’t the worse movie, but it could have done better. Coz really, if you look past all the pakilig one liners, is there any more to it? One More Chance is still unbeatable. This is obviously a rushed up attempt to surpass its better predecessor- OMC… too  bad, it failed since i’m such a Lloydie fan. better luck next time.

Its a typical pinoy movie, I watched it last sunday together with my frnd, were hoping that Star Cinema and Direk Cathy Garcia Molina gave us, once again a great and unforgetble movie like one more change, A very special Love and You changed My Life that hit the pilipino people, but we did not find the movie really good.

Im a avid fan of  LLoydie and Bea and I know that they were a gud actor and actress but were looking for something new, we appreciated the effort of the cast, staff and others but…… Maybe were expecting a lot becoz we all know that they came from better and un4rgetble movies like OMC, AVSL & YCML na talagang humatak sa takilya. The pressure was there, we saw it to bea. Chemistry was also there but  iba talaga Kapag si Sarah and lloydie ang nasa scene kita mo yung sincerity, Im a lloydie bea fan but i dont know Y when i saw the AVSL & YCML i saw the soul of the two, I can feel them deeply.

It can really happen sa true life…Napaka realistic at flawed ng mga characters..That’s why I love it… It makes you intelligent and more knowledgable…. Hindi siya yon tipong “ah…ok”. Mapapaisip ka talaga…Kaya i really had fun watching this…..

AND BRAVO TO BEA AND JLC…lumevel up na talaga sila ng BONGGANG BONGGA…. And Congratulations rin kay Direk Cathy and sa lahat ng bumubuo ng MYLC… Star Cinema, Thank you!

Lalo akong naging fan nila Bea at John Lloyd…For me, they are the best loveteam! We get indulged sa movies nila kasi THEY ARE THE CHARACTERS themselves…. They take their work seriously at wholeheartedly….. YOn mahal nila ang kanilang trabaho…Lalo na ang characters that they are portraying…

Kaya ako…Aabangan ko talaga nag next movie nila..For sure yan! Sana magka teleserye na sila!! :)

I already watched this movie 2 times in the span of 2 weeks. If you are looking for a movie that will give you KILIG from your favorite loveteam, this movie is NOT for you.  This movie featured a more mature John Lloyd and Bea as far as acting is concerned. I agree with some coments from PEP, that this movie deserves a second viewing. After watching it  again, it became better and more interesting. The story is as simple as can be, but the whole movie gave me a good essay on love and emotions. This movie is the best performance so far of John Lloyd. Even topping his performance in IN MY LIFE. Same also with Bea. This movie is different from previous JLC-BEA movies, because there are no dramatic highlights. In fact, there is only one confrontation scene wherein Bea slaps John Lloyd. The movie begins on a quiet note and ends quietly also. This is far different from ONE MORE CHANCE, but has loads of merits on its own. The subdued but superb protrayal of John Lloyd alone, is already worth  the ticket price. For those who are disappointed, you can watch it gain to appreciate the superb portrayal of JLC and BEA . This movie is actually a gamble on their part ,simply because the study of emotions here is in stark contrast to the highly emotional, story driven ONE MORE CHANCE.

This is a very good movie considering Bea and JLC are not attracted to each other in real life.  They are two very good actors who were able to make the viewers believe in the story because of their acting. I like the movie because it seems that Bea and JLC have both graduated from those pakilig movies.  I can say that these two actors can now be trusted with off beat role given only to caliber actors like Aga Mulach, Lorna Tolentino, Maricel Soriano to name a few.

The kilig factor is not as good as AVSL and YCML, probably because Sarah’s role in those two movies served as the extension of her real feelings for JLC during those time.  It was no secret that JLC was her crush and the kilig she felt for him in and out of the movie was so intense.  Nothing wrong with that since it helped the creation of movies that Filipino masses crave for.

All in all, kudos to ABSCBN for being able to cater Filipinos of different genre with movies that suits each categories.

Honestly, I really do not like Bea. I do not want to explain why. It’s silly anyway hehehe… and that’s the reason why I do not want to watch this movie. But after reading PGB’s blog and after reading one of the comments saying to watch this with an open heart and intelligent mind… ima watch this. With my current emotional climate…this is going to be scary.

I didn’t really like the movie.  I was hoping to see Bea and JL entertain them with their chemistry. But somehow, it feels like the chemistry, that spark , has lost its luster.
I agree with many though that it is a mature movie. Pretty weird editing though.
