Movie Review: I’ll Be There – KC Concepcion, Gabby Concepcion, Jericho Rosales

    Movie Review: I'll Be There

As Dianne, Darwin, Leo and I were eating at the grill place across our favorite Ristorante in Visayas Ave., I told them that I am going to watch the movie I’ll Be There. I actually sang a few lines but Dianne and Darwin said that it wasn’t I’ll Be There. Furthermore, the song with the same title they know of is that of Michael Jackson’s.

But as I watched the movie and heared the OST, I knew I was right. Dianne, Darwin, and Leo = FAIL!

I honestly thought that this movie is somewhat similar to Miley Cyrus’ Nicholas Sparks’ The Last Song. Hence, I honestly thought as well that my I’ll Be There movie review will be the same as that of The Last Song’s.

So, to correct your misconception, barring the father-daughter hate relationship,  I’ll Be There is not identical at all with The Last Song.

I’ll Be There stars real life father and daughter Gabby and KC Concepcion. The story revolves around the aspiring New York-based fashion designer named Maxi (or Mina), who was swindled by her ex-boyfriend, and was forced to come back to the Philippines to get her share of inheritance from her estranged father.

Maxi had always been cold to his father. While his father was all cheers as he saw his daughter for the first time in 15 years, Maxi maintained her distance. Along the way, she met the single father played by Jericho Rosales, who always sports matching colored shirts with his son played by Bugoy Carino.

It’s refreshing to know that I’ll Be There was not really about romance between two middle-aged lovers. The movie highlighted the relationship between KC and Gabby more than that of KC towards Jericho. It’s amusing that the scenes featuring Echo and KC were very limited but mind you, they are all super kilig moments.

Aside from dramatic lines, this movie can boast of its adorable sarcastic dialogs. Indeed, KC was sarcasm personified, but in a good way of course.

It seems like Gabby has never lost his flair for acting and that his daughter KC had gone over the source with her acting. I am sure the Megastar mom will be very proud of his daughter’s acting skills.

This movie is highly commendable especially now that Fathers’ Day is already near. This movie makes every viewer appreciates his or her dad even more.
