GMA-7 broadcaster Mariz Umali
A very reliable network insider told Pinoy Gossip Boy that news anchor Mariz Umali will be bidding goodbye to anchoring late night GMA Weekend News. The source said that Mariz’ late weekend news will be replaced by a weekend version of the daily primetime news program 24 Oras, which will be anchored by Pia Arcangel and Jiggy Manicad.
As a consuelo de bobo, Mariz has been made to anchor QTV News Breaks.
This is not the first time that the pretty news anchor was dislodged in her own TV network. She was previously sidelined in favor of Rhea Santos for Reporter’s Notebook. The source wondered how could Rhea host Reporter’s Notebook if Rhea herself is not a reporter to begin with.
The source said, “Mariz is a favorite whipping girl. Abused palagi but she never complains.”
Apparently, Mariz even lost out the Manny Pacquiao coverage to Lei Alviz. Now, buzz is Mariz is looking for a better alternative outside her mother network. Where do you think Mariz will be better off, ABS-CBN or TV5?

Mariz really deserves better treatment. Everyone knows how hard she works, and the bosses all seem to just take it for granted. Haay… considering the very limited exposure she is given, people seem to remember her well. She’s one of the bright stars of GMA7 that needs to shine more.
Personally, I would be happy to see her in either 2 or 5, whichever network gives her the break she has TRULY EARNED.
GMA7 is CRAZY if they allow Mariz to go. CRAZY!!! Many people have wondered why she has not been given the proper breaks. Ano ba talaga ang nasa isip ng Kapuso network?!? Pare-pareho na lang ang mga lumalabas sa news shows, not all of them even have HALF the talent and on-screen appeal of Mariz.
Hay naku, Mariz doon ka na lang sa ABC5 o sa ABS-CBN! At least doon hindi ka AABUSUHIN!
It’s obvious that they’re putting the prettier ones over the not so pretty anchors. not a good example. wawa naman si Mariz.

Mariz Umali is a nice reporter. I met her before and she’s very friendly.
Mariz can be a lovely and perfect addition to the Umagang Kay Ganda gang! Wow, bagay silang ‘morning love team’ ni Atom Arallo!!! Cute sila pagsamahin ni Ate B!!! Kwelang addition sya sa barkada ng pretty girls Donita, Rica and Ginger! She can also deliver one or two segments of the News like Alex (esp. Pinky Webb exits the show around 8:15 for her AM radio stint with Ted Failon sa DZMM).
Aside from UKG, she can replace Cheryl Cosim in the primetimeNews Patrol breaks, so TVP Sabado or Linggo, and even use her english skills sa ANC. Wow, daming opportunities for Mariz sa ABS-CBN!!!!

And knowing how bungisngis Mariz is, she would definitely add great chemistry to the light banter of UKG. Ganda! Sana mangyari na!!!

I agree with the above posts… GMA 7 is uber crazy if they let Mariz go….! It is so unfair for her!
24 oras weekend should be given to her since Pia Archanghel is on Balitanghali from Mon-Fri…..
