Ali Atienza is a drug addict!

The statement above, allegedly said by incumbent Manila Mayor Fred Lim, caused the filing of a libel suit by Ali Atienza, defeated Manila mayoralty candidate and son of former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, against the former.

Ali Atienza filed the libel suit before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati as the incident happened in Makati City.

Mayor Lim allegedly claimed that Ali Atienza was a drug addict. Furthermore, Mayor Fred Lim said, according to sources, that Ali Atienza was confined in the basement of the Makati Medical Center due to his drug addiction.

The incident occurred in a debate organized by the Rotary Club of Manila last Thursday at the Manila Polo Club.

Mayor Lim’s accusations prompted Ali Atienza to file a libel suit. Ali said, “It was very obvious that he was lying because he did not react when I disputed his allegation that I’m a drug addict.”
